Remember waaaaay back when I was attempting Ironman Coeur d’Alene – my first Ironman in 2013? Well, some of you do, and some of you don’t.
But I remember it, and these amazing ladies, Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea, had me on their podcast to talk about that big feat. And it was such a joy. (Oh, so this was the podcast where I swore that my first Ironman was also my last. A fact which Dimity quickly reminds me about in this week’s recording! :))
I made a cameo chapter in their book Tales from a Mother Runner.
Well, after several years and fun get-togethers, I figured I would return the favor and see what these ladies are up to on my podcast– The Same 24 Hours.
I had a great time, as I always do when I get to bump mics or elbows with these great women who are such an integral part of the women’s running revolution.
I do not over-exaggerate on this point, either.
We talked about how they met and how in the world they have this amazing enduring friendship and business relationship after all these years, their most difficult race moments, and what they think about the direction that running “is heading.”
Hope you all enjoy the episode!
“For a woman, being a mom and a runner aren’t always complementary identities. In fact, when you add a career, partner, and possibly even a social life to the mix, finding time for all of it can be as challenging as tiptoeing across your child’s room in the middle of the night without stepping on a Lego.”
