When I was young, I felt like I didn’t have a voice.
Like I needed to absorb my true feelings (or absorb and fix the feelings of other people). I had to make everyone proud, live up to the “perfect” expectations.
I must do what was expected, and anything else was intolerable, impossible or punishable.
Sure, a lot of that came from *stated expectations from family, school and church.
But… later, though, I took all those expectations in and I, myself, made them even more rigid and dark. A lot of my “voicelessness” became self-imposed, showed up as addiction and dysfunction as I continued to internalize all sort of destructive and impossible expectations. I was expected to be “this”, but I really felt “that” — therefore, screw it all, I’m just going to get blackout drunk and deal with this tomorrow.
I don’t live that way anymore.
And I have a voice. And a microphone, and I feel better.
And you know what? Most of us are grown adults, and we can live our lives how we want.
We can choose it all — for ourselves.
Stop the insanity of people pleasing. It it far more destructive than you think. The tentacles of people-pleasing are deep, dangerous and powerful.
Learn how to unlock the grip.
I have a voice. YOU have a voice.
Use your voice to speak your mind, write your TRUTH, stand in YOUR desires and needs.
This is your time to live.
