FOOD SUPPORT

MISSION STATEMENT

Overcoming Food Nonsense is a SUPPORT GROUP for people who have the desire to stop overeating, binge eating, eating compulsively, or emotionally escaping with food.

It’s intended as a place where we can share our experience of struggling with / releasing food issues in a supportive, loving, and encouraging community.

It is not a diet or weight loss group (although our members may be following meal or food plans, and may or may not have a desire to lose weight).

It’s not a place where we give specific advice about what to do (although we may have suggestions or related experience). It’s a place where we can share ideas about how to live powerfully and with emotional resilience, free from dependency on food as escape.

MY STORY

OVERCOMING FOOD NONSENSE

In December of 2015, I decided that I would never drink again.  But that didn’t “cure” my food habits, behaviors and problems. In fact, it seems that it was just the beginning.

I have been a binge eater / emotional eater as long as I can remember. I have morphed into various states of food disorders through my whole life.

Each and every year, I make progress. But I don’t have it perfect.

Which is why I reached out to my two friends who are in recovery AND have expertise with nutrition and food to help me create a support group much like I did for “Grateful Sobriety.”

Brooke Randolph, Ronni Robinson and I have created: Overcoming Food Nonsense.

My good friend, Dina Griffin, RD, is also a part of the group as our expert in-house nutritionist.

The shame and the barriers to discussing struggles with addiction and disorders -alcohol, food, and ALL – should be destroyed, and obliterated, so that anyone (ANYONE!) who needs help will have it – and have it with LOVE and SUPPORT.

Through my work, I am seeking to break down the shame, the barriers, and the negative associations with taking a stand, grabbing our power, and deciding to work tirelessly through our struggles.

If alcohol is your struggle, I encourage you to join Grateful Sobriety – a support group for alcohol sobriety.
